Description:
I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate with Dr. Michael Skinner at Washington State University, Pullman, USA. My research focuses on how SRY coordinates downstream signalling pathways during male sex determination and differentiation of somatic cells in the testis. We have a couple of candidate genes (transcription factors) from rat embryonic microarray experiments, which are involved in cellular differentiation, and their mutation causes sex reversal in males, as well as severe abnormality in kidney function and cancers in head, neck, lungs and prostrate. These genes are highly expressed during male sex determination and to the lesser extent during testicular differentiation. My hypothesis is that they are involved in dfferentiation of Sertoli progenitor cells into Sertoli cells in testis at Embryonic day 12.5-13.5.
In this blog, I will discuss about previous findings and post links to the published materials. Moreover, links to the professionals in this field and Laboratories researching sex determinatin will also be made available.
Thanks for your interest.
